Visual Artist and Illustrator

I am Hanna Flachs, 29 years old and I am a German freelance illustrator and painter. My vision is to bring people to in touch with their inner world, their self-love, joy and to their connection to mother nature through my art.

I studied Business and Culture in my Bachelor degree and Development Studies in my Masters degree. My passions are creativity and social change. So, during my Masters I already learned a lot about different theories and practices that have the potential to deeply transform the world. Theories about alternative development, empowerment, social and solidarity economy, Buen Vivir, de-growth, sustainability and feminism. And I loved it. But there was still something, that was missing in my life: Art.

I am a very creative person and I have made art since my childhood, nevertheless I didn´t gave it the attention and emphasis for a long time, since I thought that other things are more important. It was just in 2020 that I started to come back to my art and in the first lockdown I was creating and drawing every day to keep myself mentally sane. The day I invited art back into my life was the day I became more whole, joyful and more like myself again. With re-discovering my art, I slowly found back to myself.

For me, art is also a tool of self-discovery, meditation, reflection and me-time that allows me to express myself. It makes me feel alive and helps me to make sense of the world, my thoughts, the connection to Mother Earth and the challenges of our modern world.

Today, my dream of becoming an artist and illustrator became true; I have my own small business with my online shop with my products such as art prints, original artworks, card decks, calendars postcards and much more. All done with lots of love.

I am also working as a freelance illustrator and I already worked with private and corporate clients all around the world for France, Portugal, Germany, Austria, The Netherlands, U.S.A., Mexico or Canada. Together with my clients, I created various illustrations for their products or branding such as books, card decks, gift boxes, online courses or logos. I also helped clients to create banners for websites, illustrations for social media feeds or story highlights to enhance social media or website presence.

I wanted to thank everyone who supported me in my creative journey, everyone who believed in me, encouraged me to go for what I really love and to never give up.
